Born into a farming family in rural Missouri in 1946, Desiderius “Digger” Dandy moved west at 17 to seek his fortune. He roamed as a quartz miner and prospector for nine years, before purchasing a stake in the Bodhi Silver Mine in Nevada. By the end of the year, the mine had produced 38 tons of silver ore, which was smelted in San Francisco and sold for a profit equivalent to $2.5 Million in today’s currency.
Tired of the easy life that followed fortune, Digger moved to the California coast in 1976 to work in local vineyards. Always an avid outdoorsman, Digger hiked the hills at every opportunity and fell in love with this new land.
